Abraham and Sarah Peake Daynes were the parents of seven children, whose descendants are the subjects of this page. Sarah Peake Daynes married as her second husband, Micah Rood, son of attorney Thomas and Sarah Leffingwell Rood, his lawful wife. Sarah Peake Daynes and Micah Rood had issue. From Caulkin's History of New London : Sarah Peake's brother John Peake (died 2 October 1699) married Elizabeth and had children John Peake b.1690, Samuel Peake b.1693, William Peake b.1695, and Ruth Peake b.1699. For the relationship between George Rood and Thomas Leffingwell to be possible, Thomas Leffingwell and the lawful spouse of Thomas Rood (Sarah Leffingwell Rood) would have to be siblings. Then, with the marriage of George Rood's aunt Sarah Leffingwell to Thomas Rood, Sarah Leffingwell Rood's brother, Thomas Leffingwell would become George's uncle, and George Rood, a nephew to Thomas Leffingwell- with whom George was sent to live. Thomas Leffingwell's wife was Mary White Leffingwell. Sarah Peake Daynes Rood had three other children surnamed Rood. At the time she married Micah Rood, all of Sarah's children by Abraham Daynes would be under the age of 21. Johanna Daynes, eldest daughter of Abraham and Sarah Peake Daynes, married Daniel Palmeter [s. of Joseph and Mary March Palmeter/Paramenter] 30 April 1696- five years after the death of Abraham Daynes, which occurred before 15 January 1691, when widow Sarah Peake Daynes married Micah Rood, brother of Sarah Rood and son of Thomas Rood, attorney at Norwich. John and Abigail Pain Dains of LI According to information contained within Mabel Warner Millikan's DAR file, this is likely the Abraham Daynes who was in listed in Mather's Refugee's to Long Island. These refugees were moved from Long Island to Connecticut during the American Revolution, when it seemed that New York would fall to the British....I believe that the Abraham Daynes listed as a refugee in Mather's book is NOT the immigrant ancestor, but rather the grandson (and most likely- this grandson) of the immigrant ancestor, also named Abraham Daynes. Many noted historians and genealogists studying this family concur. Millikan DAR file . In New London records, Abrah Dane appears as a variant spelling, though this variation refers to this subjects grandfather.

In truth, the webmaster feels that the story as related by Olive from her interview with Mary Pullin (eldest daughter of William and Athalinda Reed Dains) refers to the lineage of Mary and Debora Munroe and their ancestors Hugh, John, Robert and William Monroe (Scotsman) bought 1 November 1651, as a prisoners of war aboard the John and Sarah. Donald, founder of the clan Munro, came from Ireland to Scotland in 1025, to assist King Malcom in his war against the Danes. The webmaster believes that the oral tradition of the first Dains ancestor being a deserter from the service of the Danish king originates from the pedigree of the spouses of Ebenezer Dains and his brother, Benejah Dains, whose wife was Deborah Munroe's sister, Mary Munroe.

In truth, the webmaster feels that the story as related by Olive from her interview with Mary Pullin (eldest daughter of William and Athalinda Reed Dains) refers to the ancestry of Mary Munroe and Hugh, John, Robert and William Monroe (Scotsman) bought 1 November 1651, as a prisoners of war aboard the John and Sarah. The Munro clan descends from Donald, founder of the clan Munro, who came from Ireland to Scotland in 1025, to assist King Malcom in his war against the Danes. I believe that the oral tradition of the first Dains ancestor being a deserter from the service of the Danish king originates from the pedigree of the spouses of Benejah Dains and his brother, Ebenezer Dains, whose wife was Mary Munroe's sister, Deborah Munroe.
