BACK TO DAYNES FAMILY HOMEPAGE

Of interest to the DAYNES family tree is Christian Gosnold, whose descendancy is abstracted below. Robert Gosnold of Ottley is the GGF of Captain Bartholomew Gosnold and the GF of Captain Anthony Gosnold of Jamestown.  Anthony drowned off the shore of Virginia (so named after their virgin queen, Elizabeth, who reigned from 1558, after the death of Mary, and was succeeded by James I in 1603). Elizabeth's reign  is considered to be England's Golden Age of exploration, colonization, military domination, and literary works. Also of interest to the DAYNES family is the marriage of Christian (Gosnold) Ryvette's brother John Gosnold to Katherine Blennerhassett.  After the American Revolution, Asa Dains, of  Meigs County, Ohio, carpenter, was contracted to build a mansion for The Harmon and Margaret Blennerhassets on the largest island in the Ohio River.  After a fire, the mansion was restored according to the original plans. Ottley Hall in England, ancestral home of Robert Gosnold of Ottley is open to the public. See the following link for further detail: http://www.otleyhall.co.uk/index_25.htm See the following page for Map of EnglandFor A Genealogy of Bartholemew Gosnold and his ancestry, by Warner Gookin of Oak Bluffs, Mass., see the following link: Gosnold descendants   or http://www.ocotilloroad.com/geneal/gosnold3.html#BART1 Apparently, during the reign of Charles I, this branch of the Daynes family were Parlimentarians, and with the Restoration in 1661, their lands were likely attained by the crown.
